
According to the Ukrmetallurgprom OP, for 10 months of 2019, steel smelting and metal production in Ukraine increased slightly year-on-year, pig iron smelting remained at last year's level.
The results of the work of the MMC of Ukraine for 10 months 2019
According to the data specified during the balance sheet meeting at the Ukrmetallurgprom Production Association, in October 2019, the following was produced:
• pig iron - 1.59 million tons (90.9% compared to September 2019);
• steel - 1.56 million tons (89.5%);
• rolled products - 1.43 million tons (91.0%).
For 10 months of 2019 produced:
• iron ore concentrate - 52.57 million tons (105% compared to the same period in 2018);
• sinter - 26.21 million tons (99.7%);
• pellets - 17.77 million tons (100.2%);
• gross coke (6% vl.) - 8.55 million tons (95%);
• pig iron - 17.07 million tons (99.9%);
• steel - 17.93 million tons (102%);
• rolled products - 15.54 million tons (101%);
• pipe products - 0.89 million tons (95%).
As of November 12, 2019, of the main existing production facilities in operation are: 13 of 21 blast furnaces, 8 of 9 open-hearth furnaces, 10 of 16 converters, 5 of 15 electric furnaces and 14 of 15 continuous casting machines.
FORECAST FOR DECEMBER 2019
In December 2019, production of the main types of products is forecasted in the following volumes: pig iron - about 1.7 million tons, steel - 1.7 million tons, rolled products - 1.6 million tons.
PROVISION OF IRON RAW MATERIALS
In October 2019, about 2.4 million tons of iron ore raw materials were delivered to metallurgical enterprises (114% compared to September 2019).
There was no import of iron ore in October.
For 10 months of 2019, domestic enterprises received about 23.9 million tons of iron ore (all of Ukrainian origin; 97% compared to the same period in 2018).
In October 2019, iron ore exports amounted to about 2.86 million tons (96% compared to September 2019), and for 10 months of 2019 - 33.25 million tons (108% compared to the same period in 2018).
MAKING COCKABLE COALS
In October 2019, 1.14 million tons of coking coal was delivered to coke plants (103% compared to September 2019), of which:
• Ukrainian origin - 0.27 million tons (88% compared to September 2019);
• imported - 0.87 million tons (109% compared to September 2019).
In just 10 months of 2019, 11.72 million tons of coking coal were delivered to coking enterprises (97% compared to the same period in 2018), of which:
• Ukrainian origin - 2.77 million tons (128% compared to the same period in 2018);
• imported - 8.95 million tons (90% compared to the same period in 2018).
The share of imported coal in the total supply for 10 months of 2019 amounted to 76.4% compared to 82.0% in the same period of 2018.
COCOA SECURITY
In October 2019, 695 thousand tons of coke were supplied to Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises (dry weight, 95% compared to September 2019), of which:
• of Ukrainian origin - 683 thousand tons (95% relative to September 2019);
• imported - 12 thousand tons (92% compared to September 2019).
The total volume of coke received by metallurgists in the 10 months of 2019 amounted to 7.59 million tons (96% compared to the same period in 2018), of which:
• of Ukrainian origin - 7.20 million tons (94% compared to the same period in 2018);
• imported - 0.39 million tons (136% compared to the same period in 2018).
At the same time, the share of imported coke in the total supply for 10 months of 2019 amounted to 5.1% versus 3.6% in the same period of 2018.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCRAP
In October 2019, scrap companies procured 254 thousand tons of scrap metal (107% compared to September 2019), the entire volume was delivered to domestic metallurgical enterprises. For export, scrap metal was not supplied.
For 10 months of 2019, out of 2,635 thousand tons of scrap metal (87% compared to the same period in 2018), 2,594 thousand tons were delivered to Ukrainian consumers as imported ones (95% compared to the same period in 2018), 41 thousand tons were exported ( 13% compared to the same period in 2018).
NATURAL GAS AND ELECTRICITY
In October 2019, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises consumed about 130 million cubic meters of natural gas (93% compared to September 2019).
In just 10 months of 2019, domestic metallurgy consumed about 1,530 million cubic meters of natural gas (101% compared to the same period in 2018).
Electricity consumption by metallurgical enterprises in October 2019 amounted to about 850 million kWh (96% compared to September 2019), and over 10 months - about 9.47 billion kWh (97% compared to the same period in 2018).
