Dneprovsky Metallurgical Plant (DMK), one of the Ukrainian manufacturers and exporters of billets, said that blast furnace No. 12 will be restarted.
Due to a sharp drop in prices and a decrease in demand for steel products, the operation of blast furnace No. 12 was suspended in September 2019. During downtime, DMK continued regular maintenance work.
On December 26, the corresponding raw materials were sent to blast furnace No. 12, and the first batch of 65 tons of pig iron was produced before January 1, 2020.
In 2020, all three blast furnaces under the DMK should be in full operation.
According to preliminary data, during January-November 2019, the volume of steel and cast iron production at DMK decreased by 6.4% and 17.4%, respectively. Recently, strong indicators of world prices and an improvement in the global market should be the main reason for the expansion of the DMK.
