
Ukraine's coke and chemical plants (CCPs) imported 5.34m tonnes of raw coking coal and coking coal concentrate in January-July this year, down 4.8% from the same period last year.
According to an information note from Ukrmetallurgprom association on Tuesday, the receipt of Ukrainian-mined coals for the period amounted to 2.3 million tonnes - 11.4% higher than the same period last year.
Overall, in January-July-2021, the Ukrainian holding companies received 7.64 million tons of coal for coking, which is 0.5% less compared to January-July-2020. At that, the percentage of imported coals in the total supply was 69.9% against 73.1% in the same period last year.
Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises supplied 4.876 million tons of coke (103.8% by January-July 2020), including 4.709 million tons of coke of Ukrainian origin (100.7%), 0.167 million tons of imported coke (5.22 times more) in the mentioned reporting period. The share of imported coke in total supplies was 3.42% vs. 0.68% in 7M-2020.
