
Metallurgical enterprises in Ukraine are expected to increase steel production by 6.3% in 2021 compared to 2020 - up to 21.921 million tons.
As reported in the reference documents of the Ministry of Economy, which is available to the agency Interfax-Ukraine, the output of total rolled steel will increase by 5.8% to 19.501 million tons, iron production - by 6.6%, to 21.781 million tons. The forecast is based on production figures for January-July this year, summarized by the association "Ukrmetallurgprom," the ministry said. At the same time, the source added that if current trends persist, the supply of scrap metal companies in 2021 will increase by 12.3% - to 3.248 million tons, which is worse than the forecast a month earlier (up 14% to 3.31 million tons). Production of pipes in 2021 may increase by 14.9% to 981 thousand tons, coke - by 2.4%, to 9.898 million tons, refractories - by 10.5%, to 243 thousand tons. Sinter output may increase by 7.5% to 34.314 million tons. As reported, in January-July 2021, Ukraine produced 19.931 million tons of sinter (107.6% by January-July 2020), 5.749 million tons of coke gross 6% vol. (102%), 12.651 million tons of pig iron (107.8%), 12.732 million tons of steel (107.4%), 11.326 million tons of rolled steel (106.4%) and 0.57 million tons of pipes (121.2%).
