Ukraine's steelmakers are expected to increase steel production by 4% in 2021 compared to 2020, to 21.444 mln tons.

As reported in the reference documents of the Ministry of Economy, which is available to the agency Interfax-Ukraine, the output of general rolled products will also increase by 4% - to 19.175 million tons, iron smelting also by 4%, to 21.238 million tons. The forecast is based on production figures for January-November this year, summarized association "Ukrmetallurgprom," specified in the ministry. At the same time, the source added that if current trends persist, the supply of scrap metal companies in 2021 will increase by 13% - to 3.264 million tons. Production of pipes in 2021 could increase by 16% to 990 thousand tons, while coke output would go down by 1% to 9.541 million tons, but refractory production would increase by 9% to 240 thousand tons. Sinter output may increase by 4% to 33.158 mln tons. As reported, during 10 months of this year, 27.875 million tons of sinter (106.1% vs. January-October 2020), 8.003 million tons of coke gross 6% moisture (same as last year), 17.724 million tons of pig iron (105%), 17.903 million tons of steel (105.5%), 15.986 million tons of rolled steel (105.4%), 0.82 million tons of tubular products (115.9%) were produced. In 2020, 31.91 million tons of sinter (103.3% by 2019), 9.67 million tons of gross coke 6% moisture (96.1%), 20.423 million tons of pig iron (101.8%), 20.616 million tons of steel (98.9%), 18.427 million tons of rolled steel (101.2%), 0.85 million tons of tubular products (83.8%) were produced.
